After a recent trip to France this February we were introduced to some great new wine, one in particular stood out for us this being:
Fie Gris (Otherwise known as Sauvignon Gris) is an ancient Loire variety. This year it was awarded Best White Wine of show in the top 100 Vin de Pays tasting in London, and deservedly so. Made with the greatest of care the pressed juice is left on the skins and the pulp for an extended period, and the fermented wine remains on the 'Lie' through until January. Finely aromatic, with distinctive notes of pink grapefruit and blueberries on the palate, this is wonderfully refreshing with a very long, mineral finish. Sante recommend this wine as a must try, you won't be disappointed.
Organic wines are made from grapes which are cultivated without recourse to synthetic fungicides, herbicides or fertilizers. Organic wine is becoming more popular and although harder to control than others wines, we recommend those as a good introduction to organic wine.
Bag in a Box has been a popular request, so Sante are introducing the 3Litre boxes filled with wine from the Pay de Retz in the Loire valley:
